I hide behind this stolid mask
yet inside I am gloating
as we refuse to foresee
Man-made empires burning
the hourglass is turning
counting us out

I’ve seen this phase go on a thousand times
no signs of wisdom, within mankind
I feel the pressure breed from thousand lies
the truth denied, swallowed by our pride

And once again we just stand aside with our ignorance
observing as history slowly repeats itself...

I strive to maintain my way
avoiding gilded pavement
my choice to deviate
Our craving for the green
brings out the worst, you’ll see
consumes from within

I’ve seen this phase go on a thousand times
incapable of learning, distress inside
I feel the pressure breed from thousand lies
Who’s left to blame? I see the guilty before my eyes

Do you really think seeing something you dislike
is a reason enough to convert your eyes?

In time after our descent
Full circle completed
we’re back on square one
Fresh start, nothing learned
few preaches passed unheard
rewound and repeated

I’ve seen this phase go on a thousand times
So why not witness it for one last time...
