Woman sues Zara claiming she found a rodent sewn into the lining of a new dress

Cailey Fiesel (24), from New York, says she purchased a new dress at a Zara in Connecticut in July and noticed a “"disturbingly pungent odour" when she wore it for the first time weeks later.

Her lawsuit claims she was "unable to escape the odour" and was "shocked" to find a dead rodent was the cause.

"Despite getting up from her desk and walking around, she was unable to escape the odour," her suit, which was lodged in Manhattan Supreme Court on Monday, reads.

"I felt something brushing up against my leg and thought it was a string from the seam of the dress,” she explained to the New York Post.

"I then felt the hem of the dress and it felt like there was some sort of sensor. I turned up the seam of the dress and saw it was not a sensor and that it was a mouse."

“I froze, I was paralysed with fear,” she added. “I was in complete shock. My eyes saw that it was a mouse, but my brain told myself it can’t be."

Fiesel, who acts as a talent agent, is suing for damage and claims she now is suffering from a rash which she says was diagnosed as coming from a "rodent-born disease".

A spokesperson for Zara USA said they are "aware of the suit and we are investigating the matter further.

“Zara USA has stringent health and safety standards, and we are committed to ensuring that all of our products meet these rigorous requirements."
