An 80’s Rockabilly band from the 21st century is how the band describe themselves, and indeed it sounds appropriate. The band play covers of more or less classic Rockabilly-songs, with the lyrics translated or re-written into Finnish, most of them being about drinking, being drunk, being hung over and wanting to drink. See a pattern? Well, there’s a few exceptions, but those are the common and recurring lyrical themes of this class act. Covering artists such as Crazy Cavan And The Rhythm Rockers among others, Happotedit really do a brilliant job. Not only are the lyrics funny but also well written, and both the choice of songs to cover and the performances are nothing short of top notch, with vocal performances that not only fit the lyrical themes but also sound good. The musicianship sounds professional and like the band was having a blast recording this CD; it emanates in a most positive manner from the music. It sounds fun.

So, combining drunken humour, good Rockabilly-music and a damn good feeling, Happotedit have created a genuinely fun album. This ain’t a historical release, this ain’t a genre-defining or trend-setting release, and in 20 years’ time it’ll probably be forgotten by most, but it’s one of the most fun and entertaining albums I’ve heard in some time. And whilst the humour of the lyrical themes may wear a bit thin after a certain amount of listens, the fact that the music is outstanding carries the album long after that.
