Kirjoittaja English lyrics consultancy?

Sometimes when I'm involved in projects with English lyrics I could use a little help from people who know the language better than me and my band mates.

What I'm looking for is someone who could track down grammatical errors, naiiveties, unintended humour, emphasis on wrong syllables, inconsistent accent etc etc. I have a hunch that there is a whole bunch of people in Mikseri who could use such a service.

My question is: Are there any qualified (and voluntary) language consultants here in Mikseri.net?

Good idea, i could need this too. My lyrics are.. um.. Not very correct and flowing, usually I cant figure out my thoughts on the paper very well in english. And in finnish, no, not at all

Suppose I could be of some assistance here. Even though my english has started to rust like a spoon stuck in a barrel of salty water, im still more than competent and somewhat fluent in its use. So yeah, count me in if theres a need for this kind of a job.

Well, no idea if you'd see me as "qualified", but you can have a look at my lyrics/songs, and if you feel that's good enough a reference I'll be glad to help out. I'm not a native speaker though, so no offense taken if you prefer to pass on my services.

Im not sure either, if I am really qualified for this mission. But my english is quite good. Im in an international high-school. Somethings have stucked in my head. Not all..
And I am good at abusing those little dots..

What the heck is that supposed to mean? You're a mean android?

Anyway, thanks a lot to everyone who has volunteered so far. I probably will approach at least some of you in the near future with a little assignment.

I'd also like to point out that it's not just me who might need some help. I'd like to see more of this kind of collaboration going on here at Mikseri.

Damn right. Since this place is supposed to be a music community some sort of co-operation should be at least expected. But sometimes it seems to be missing from this place, replaced with a bunch of unhealthy attitude. And horrible jokes.

I consider myself quite qualified. When my friends need consulting in their English-related projects they turn to me, although I have no education in the English language. And at least one of them has a myriad of acquaintances to turn to and he has chosen my advice numerous times. I am currently suffering from a lack of constructive pastimes and this kind of project could fill that void at least partially. Whoever might need help may contact me via private messaging. Please remember that despite the fact that I may not be a human being I am still not perfect. Here is a rather rude example of what I can do:

Chadonna should have written:
I'm not sure either if I am really qualified for this mission. But my English is quite good. I'm in an international high school. Some things have stuck in my head. Not all...
And I am good at noticing small errors...

The mildly leaking structure of the sentences was left intact. A direct translation of an idiom is seldom, if ever, correct and the validity of the translation of such in the last sentence is highly questionable, thus changed entirely in the corrected version. A sincere apology to Chadonna

remember that I am writing spoken language. That means that my structures don't have to be that specific. Only the official writen english is specific.

Is it so important to sing or write english so perfectly? My opinion is that it's good when you do it your own way. No matter how awfully you do it, but no one can imitate you! Well, but I do understand if some people do want to make it sound not-so-finnish-formula-driver ....

I might have interest in whining about errors of others, just send a private message and we'll discuss. Correcting vocal errors like failed stress or pronunciation might be a tricky part though. It's not that easy to explain them and even more difficult to try to rectify them.

Oddly, I find myself in need of 'language consultantation.' I look around the site and I get lost! Gods!

Perhaps you can help me understand what each of the buttons says. I'm completely lost over here as to what's what, and end up pushing buttons blindly until something heappens. I guess I'm lucky, though. I haven't started World War III, no nukes have landed anywhere {that I'm aware of} and the forum still seems to be working. I'm all good!

I only stumbled on this because I'm a big fan of Unlight, and I was wondering why I couldn't find their CD's. Well, I guess I know, now! {Laughs}

Now let's see what this little yellow button with more gibberish on the bottom does. Hopefully not turn off the entire net!

Love & Friendship & Blessed Be!
Lynn Erika Kilroy

Addendum: That's what the little yellow button does! A preview! Neat! And the one on the left on the screen after this comes back here. Edit, right? So the other one it post? I hope so!

Wow! Kilroy was here !!
And that gibberish happens to be Finnish. And it's not so complicated..
Here in Finlandia even little children speak and understand it. Luv

Well I'm English so if anybody wants help I'll do my best to help you!

I'm also a band promoter over in England (particularly punk bands) so I could help out there.

My problem is getting our English bands promoted out in your country!!! If any one can help me promote the 'Submerse' mikseri page or help to spread the word about the band in zines, websites or radio and TV that would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
and here's my email should anyone wish to contact

If anyone needs any help with lyrics, I can also be of assistance, seeing as I'm an English teacher and spent a great deal of time in the States. Those are my qualifications. Good taste is a whole other subject But I do have exprience in the lyric-department and have done quite a bit of writing throughtout my life.

But if anyone is interested, drop me a line on my profile page or contact me at graineband@hotmail.com.

Gracias, Janne

Waltaris Kärtsy Hatakka used to finetune his lyrics with a little help from an English teacher in Helsinki. I gues there was some money/cowriting involved too, but that`s one opportunity, to find a lonesome English teacher. Or student maybe...
