Man is not free, has not been free in a long time, and would probably not know what to do with freedom if it came to him. And it will not be coming to him as he is, in his present state.

The meaning of freedom is not found in dictionaries. It is a deep philosophical concept and man has not really addressed it. What Americans are wondering about now, is not freedom, but relative liberty. This is a political thing. We have liberty, and we want more, not less. The present leaders want us to have less not more, and that is what we are now bantering about.

But real freedom is not bestowed by anyone or anything outside oneself. Actually, most people are afraid of real freedom, and don't want anything to do with it. Man's inner enslavement is the cause of the external dramas in the social and political spheres.

We have attraction/repulsion relationships with the leaders. We fear them and love and need them. We hate them but identify with their power. There are a few important reasons why we do this, and why leaders are abusive when they receive power. I address the reasons in the Atlantis Book and in the various dvds and on the site, etc,.

If you are attached to a person, to a belief, to an idea, to an image of yourself, then you are not free. That is basic truth, but one that does not mean much to the attached.

So, what we pursue is a phantom called freedom. But this thing must be earned. It will not come easily into our hovels, because it is far too beautiful and precious. Your very need even pushes it away.
