Pop No Harm: Carnival

Carnival (Melody 1993, Lyrics 2007)

It's party time
it is carnival in town
leave your educated life
turn your circles upside down.
People laughing
they are dancing in the parades
share the moment of this joy
bring stones and hand grenades.

Start a riot
in the street
blame the cops
and the heat
wear mask
don't be
rational
that's the concept of the
modern time mass carnival.

You used to eat
cotton candy at the fairground
you were innocent kid
enjoyed the merry-go-round.
Bread and circuses
years of programmed cheap happy fun
when you met the faceless world
you felt safer with a gun.

It's party time
it is carnival in town
join the drumming marching band
dress the costume of a clown.
The rich and the spoilt
need their 15 minutes of fame
but you deserve something more
broken windows and a big flame.

Globalization
bad constipation
selfish corporation
whatever cause
for this celebration
sound of the brass
music of shattering glass
shall be ended in tear gas.
