Skulduggery: Twilight Estate

Aged gray estate stands all alone on a field
Inside its crumbling walls hide old secrets better left pristine
Still sometimes men outside seek to unfold it all
High in the towers feet of ghosts shamble on
Obscure eyes stare with no sight, just reminiscent from the past
Death in grief, a fallen leaf - all just ash of the earth

Down by the main gate stands a sentry of time
A Great statue of ages, eroded by eons in guard
He knows why all here died, curse that bides yet inside

[chorus]
Lifetime ago this land spilled life like it now pours demise
Reckless somersault of rampant delight once turned into this blight
Home for the wight
Fortune in ruins, cause entombed for this doom to befall
Treadmill never stalls, souls cry every night
Grip of bane holds on tight, curse of twilight

Ponds in the courtyard reflect skies overcast
Brooding clouds never rain down, curtain this site from the day
Languished vines' essence pines the scent of sweet morning dew
Once in a century cold subsides for a while
Gates of rust slowly open to welcome redemption alleged
Like fireflies specters rise to greet the ruler once more

[chorus]
